Harouna Saley Abdoulaye

Harouna Saley Abdoulaye. Dynamic, and committed leader and manager with 21+ year of experience in organizational management, strategic planning, and business development focusing on social cohesion and peace consolidation, on countering stigmatization and reducing the filling of marginalization of community at risk, on community mobilization and on countering violence extremism with community based resilience approach.  Exceptional interpersonal talents, able to bring together community leaders, local organizations, and government agencies to consolidate strategies of dialogue, and stability. Excellent project management skills, capable of building effective and enthusiastic teams to complete projects on time, within budget, and with tangible impact.  Harouna Abdoulaye participated as a panelist at the United Nations General Assembly on the Rehabilitation and Reintegration process of former violent extremists in September 2017. He is also a facilitator and leadership advisor and experienced in Art of Living and personal development.  He is seeking opportunities to share his experiences and to learn and adapt from others experiences in order to foster his sense of creativity and innovation.

Nellie Cabane

Nellie Cabane is a Registered Facilitator with ETDP and SETA as a Constituent Assessor and SDF, Coach and Mentor, that specializes in facilitation of learning, Job coaching, assessment of learning, training and development, project management, team and business change processes, Coaching and Mentoring Entrepreneurs. Nellie has been involved in learnership programmes for over 10 years as a coach and assessor. She has developed young graduates, supervisors, team leaders in all aspects of the industry. Nellie offers experiential learning that makes her learners or candidates want to learn more when they are in the class. Nellie facilitated in many different industries and very big organizations like a Arcelor Mittal, Clover, Mtn, Absa, Std Bank, Fnb, Anglo American, Dept of Justice, Wesbank, Nedbank and Blake International and many more. In all these industries Nellie has excelled! As a result Nellie in 2007 & 2008 she was awarded Trainer of the year in 2 Provinces KZN & Eastern Cape. In 2008 she was nominated as a finalist External trainer/Facilitator of the year in South Africa. Duke Corporate Education nominated her as one of the BEST top 5 facilitators out of 21 facilitators in South Africa. Nellie has a lot of experience in the Call center field where she developed young graduates that have never worked before to be successful employees that ended up to be leaders in their field. Nellie has done a lot of customer service training and leadership development programmes. She has empowered employees that have been working as managers for many years without qualification. Nellie was able to coach them to cover the gaps up to a stage where they can get a management certificate; she does that through a programme called RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). This programme has helped many managers to bring up to speed and help them to have a qualification so that when they leave the organization they can be employable as managers because of their experience. Nellie was nominated by Anglo Platinum as one of the top 5 Educators for the Leadership Academy programme she ran for Duke Corporate Education. Nellie had very good feedback from the participants and received very high scores. Nellie is a member of Dukece Global Learning Resource Network. The experience she gained during the years has helped Nellie to get results from her training. Nellie has contributed her skills to the South African market by making the young graduates to be more marketable and be successful leaders. When training leaders, Nellie makes sure that leaders transfer skills to their employees and the organization benefits by getting ROI. Nellie always makes sure that after training clients call her back and participants -and they do! Nellie Cabane is very passionate about skills development and working with Duke has helped her to gain more experience and sharpen her skills as a result Duke Clients are happy and learners achieve results. Nellie has done work for different organizations and that has made Nellie always up-skill herself all the time. Nellie is a Diversity specialist, call center, leadership and is more passionate in empowering women in Leadership. Nellie assisted many organizations in assessing their employees in what they do and excel. The knowledge that Nellie has gained through the years has opened many doors in her career. She has worked for various community based youth organizations, facilitating life skills and has mentored a number of youth in terms of life skills in general and youth in business. Nellie has pioneered skills development participation to more than 120 companies in various sector Education and Training Authorities as a skills development consultant . Nellie has facilitated generic courses and ensured compliance with skills development processes as laid by the Ministry of Labour in the National Skills Development Strategy. Nellie has assisted a number of organization with skills development facilitation process, ensuring effective skills development planning and implementation, management of learnerships, skills programme, bursaries, ABET, Artisan and internship programmes, advising management of skills development legislation compliance, designing training quality management systems and policies and procedure in the SDA, SAQA, SDLA.

Nate Stephens

Nate Stephens is an organizational change facilitator and systems convener with a passion for challenging power dynamics and bringing diverse groups together. Nate has worked in diverse sectors and communities to develop participatory and iterative processes, with experience working with teams, offices, multinational organizations, and international networks. Nate currently manages the Anchor Collaborative Network at The Democracy Collaborative, consisting of more than 25 cities and communities convening spaces for local anchor institutions to contribute capital to equitable and inclusive economic development. These place-based collaboratives made up of communities, anchor institutions, governments, and backbone organizations are exploring diverse approaches to build community wealth and democratize their local economies. Prior to joining The Democracy Collaborative, Nate was a senior technical officer at Root Change, a DC-based NGO working to build systems change capacity and test community-led approaches in the international development sector. In managing programs with organizations and networks in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia, Nate designed and facilitated more than three dozen workshops and trainings in English, Spanish, and French. As a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, Nate co-founded a rural entrepreneurship training center and rabbit-raising cooperative with 150 members, more than 300 people trained in micro-enterprise development, and four satellite campuses. Nate has an MPA with a concentration in Power in Development Systems from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and a BA in Anthropology/Sociology with a concentration in Educational Studies from Carleton College in Minnesota. He grew up on a cattle ranch in the Black Hills of South Dakota where his passion for creative problem solving began.

Michael Brouri

Michael Brouri is an experienced facilitation consultant with more than a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector and higher education. Michael specializes in meeting design, facilitation, and coaching using Liberating Structures and has recently worked with clients including the White House, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, and many national and local NGOs. Michael has worked to advance civic engagement and innovation with the Global Social Enterprise Institute at Georgetown University, the Arkansas Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support, and the Miami Dade College Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy. He is passionate about people, politics, and his Catahoula Leopard Dog, Ruth.

Mara D’Amico

Mara D’Amico is an experienced facilitation consultant, having worked with a diverse range of partners to achieve their goals by designing and facilitating events where participants connect in thoughtful and engaging ways. She has built meetings and events through a participatory model with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, colleges and universities, community groups, faith-based organizations, corporations, and others. Mara works for the Michigan Women’s Health Initiative at Michigan Medicine within the University of Michigan. Mara leads engagement with physicians, practices, communities, and patients and works to improve women’s health so that it’s responsive to their needs, respects their preferences, and supports them in leading safe, healthy lives. She previously worked as Program Manager on the Strategies for Health Equity team at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to ensure all women can access the full range of reproductive health care options in the United States. Mara also served as a McLarty Scholar and the Hillary Rodham Clinton Communications Fellow at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, and served two terms as an AmeriCorps member in Miami, Florida. She graduated from the Clinton School of Public Service, earning a Master of Public Service degree, and earned a B.S. in International Business and Spanish from Central Michigan University. Mara lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is a volunteer crisis counsellor with Crisis Text Line, a board member for OAR of Arlington (an anti-racist and restorative justice organization), a board member for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, a committee member with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Maternal Infant Health, Health Equity Action Committee and the Optimal Birth Spacing Action Committee, and a member of the Vital Voices Young Leaders Council. She is also a New Leaders Council DC alumna and a graduate of the American University Women in Politics Institute WeLead Program.

Jesus Hernandez

Pedagogue specialized in technology, with post-graduate studies on systems thinking, design thinking and a masters on innovation in education for sustainability at the University of the Environment. Founder of Hevas Innovation and Sistemico, Socio-environmental Regeneration. As a consultant he has conducted himself with a strong commitment to social innovation, integrating a systems perspective and connecting different actors into regenerative actions in his projects, creating a vibrant network of collaborators who share the will to make this a better world for everybody. Jesús is an Apple Professional Learning Specialist and he is part of the Vibrancy international network. He also facilitates Action Research and Storytelling at the University of the Environment. His experience with a diversity of educational, cultural, social, business and international cooperation organizations in Mexico, North America and Latin America has allowed him to generate a sensibility to the different wishes, dreams, interests and possibilities of his clients and collaborators to co-design innovative strategies to detonate their maximum potential.

With over 25 years of experience and fluency in Thai and English, Jenn and Space Bangkok bring structure, neutrality, and deep cultural insight to the rooms that matter most. Jenn is also an author.

Brooking Gatewood

Brooking Gatewood helps leaders and groups clarify and enact the change they want in themselves, in their workplaces, and in our shared world. As a process designer, facilitator, collaboration coach and strategist, her work is rooted in the belief that we must co-liberate individual agency and collective capacity to truly change systems and culture. Brooking has designed, managed, and facilitated countless group meetings, retreats, conferences, and workshops for leaders, teams, organizations, alliances, networks and movements. She has designed and stewarded complex processes for conflict transformation, culture change, strategy development, public input and collective action. Partners have come from all kinds of backgrounds including academia, philanthropy, government, industry, small business and social enterprise, nonprofit and community organizing. Project topics have included patient-powered healthcare, destigmatizing illness, affordable housing, natural resource management, safeguarding democracy, science-policy interaction, human and animal rights, pollution and environmental justice, collaborative philanthropy and corporate responsibility. Some of her design work has been featured in the Stanford Social Innovation Review (Creating Breakout Innovation, 2017). Before co-founding The Emergence Collective, Brooking was privileged to work and learn with mentors and colleagues at Groupaya, Ag Innovations, Adaptive Edge and Global Footprint Network. She has a BA in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College, a research-focused MA in Organizations and Management Theory from UC-Irvine, and a MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from UM-St. Louis. She has additional training in systems theory, circling, coaching and counseling, racial equity, group dynamics, facilitation, mediation, and mindfulness. She hosts The Indisposable Podcast, has a TedX talk on the power of poetry as a form of listening, and has co-authored a number of reports, articles, and book chapters as part of her client work and academic training. When not working or poeticizing, she enjoys river time and hosting community art shows and gatherings.

Beth Kanter is a Master Trainer, Speaker, and Author She is an internationally recognized thought leader in networks, digital transformation, philanthropy, wellbeing in the workplace and training.  Beth has over 35 years working in the nonprofit sector in capacity building and has facilitated trainings for thousands of social change activists and nonprofits on every continent in the world. She is an in-demand keynote speaker and workshop leader.    Named one of the most influential women in technology by Fast Company and one of BusinessWeek’s “Voices of Innovation for Social Media,” Beth was Visiting Scholar at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation 2009-2013. She received the lifetime achievement award from NTEN in 2021. She is the author of the award-winning Networked Nonprofit Books “The Happy Healthy Nonprofit:  Strategies for Impact without Burnout” and “The Smart Nonprofit: Staying Human-Centered in an Age of Automation” published by J.Wiley. Her clients include foundations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
