Abraham Tekya
Abraham “Abramz” Tekya is passionate about igniting growth, and fostering creativity, innovation and social change. He is a dedicated workshop facilitator with over 17 years of experience. He has worked in a variety of areas: community building, team building, collaboration, arts & culture, empowerment, innovation, social change, education, personal & professional development, self-awareness and well-being. His mission is to create a supportive and inspiring environment where participants feel safe to take risks, express themselves, explore their creativity and develop new skills. With a background in creative facilitation, wellness through arts, coaching, Hiphop music, breakdance, theatre, visual art, events organizing, concept development, community mobilization, and organizing & facilitating retreats, he brings a unique perspective to his workshops. He has worked with non-profit organizations, local & internationalschools, community centres, juvenile & adult prisons, arts & cultural organizations, universities, rehabilitation centres, consultancy firms, foster homes, refugee centres, government institutions, grassroots community programs, among others. Over the years, he has developed and facilitated breakdance and Hiphop workshops and classes locally and internationally and has judged both local and international competitions. He is known for his work of using breakdance and Hiphop as tools for social change. He believes that growth, innovation, communication, open-mindedness, cohesion, self-awareness, wellness, relationships, diversity and empowerment thrive in a space of creativity, curiosity, exploration, critical thinking, play and gratitude. His workshops give special attention to active participation, safety, collaboration, hands-on activities, self-expression, imagination, reflection, intention, exchange, risk-taking, leadership, deep listening, experiential learning, inclusion, and having fun. He uses group facilitation, experiential learning and the arts because this multi-disciplinary approach enhances the scope and depth of learning as well as catering to different learning styles. Abramz has worked with children, youth and adults of different backgrounds, in various settings. He has worked in Uganda, Kenya, Mozambique, Swaziland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Denmark, USA, Switzerland, Poland, among other countries.
Norah Bwaya
A pioneer in, and veteran of, the coaching industry in East Africa. Norah believes in the vast potential of people. She is known for her effectiveness in leadership development and for spearheading advocacy for improving work culture and ethics in Uganda. She is a multi-skilled Certified Executive Coach, Organization Development Consultant, Facilitator/trainer, public speaker and author. Her working experience spans across 4 careers (Accountancy, Marketing, Insurance, Coaching) in 21 countries across 3 continents (Africa, Europe, America). She has supported top-tier executives in over 100 organizations across several sectors: Petroleum, health, banking, hospitality, insurance, beverages and development sector. Has served, and still serves, on numerous development and private sector Boards. She founded the first coaching firm in East Africa—Coach Africa Ltd. and Institute of Work Culture and Ethics. She holds a Doctorate in Executive Performance from Middlesex University and is a credentialed Professional Coach (ICF).
Sam Bwaya
Sam is the Executive Director of the Institute of Work Culture and Ethics, an Organizational Development company whose goal is enhancing organizational and individual performance by fostering ethical work culture at personal and organizational levels. The Institute’s programmes focus on getting individual and organisational goals aligned and in harmony; only then would the two perform at their optimal and yield their full potential. Sam is a seasoned leader with a finance and legal background and has 20 years’ working experience at top management level. He has over 25 years’ audit and assurance experience, and oversaw more than 200 audits annually with organisations spread across the Region (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo). Sam combined the position of Audit manager and later Partner Designate with Training Manager and in the later role was heavily involved with internal and external training. He is also a co-founder of Coach Africa and since 2007 has taken part in numerous training programmes that included facilitating team building sessions. Sam has a rare combination of legal, finance, auditing, business, leadership and training skills. He has dealt with a wide range of organizations with different challenges. This combination places Sam in a unique position to carry out business diagnoses. He adds value to organizations by troubleshooting and recommending ways of strengthening operations and internal controls. Sam is a very experienced facilitator, and has facilitated many retreats across the Eastern African Region. He is passionate about personal effectiveness and performance enhancement.
