Alejandra Ortiz Medrano has dedicated a large part of her professional life to education and the design of processes that allow people and groups to develop their potential for the benefit of the systems to which they belong. She was dean of educational innovation and socio-environmental projects at the Universidad del Medio Ambiente (UMA) in Mexico, where she co-designed various workshops focused on the development of environmental entrepreneurs in areas such as tourism, law, business, and education, through diverse tools like systems thinking, action research, and potential based projects. She has codesigned syllabus and programs, including the bachelor in entrepreneurship and socio-environmental projects at UMA. Originally a biologist and evolutionary ecology PhD, she left academia but not her passion for science, and is also dedicated to science communication. Passionate about learning, she has taken several workshops and courses that apply in her work, including Kaospilot’s the arts and crafts of facilitating learning spaces, Collective transformations (ecosynomics) diploma, Biomimicry immersion, and the work that reconnects immersion. She is also a mindfulness-certified teacher.
