With more than 20 years of experience in the field of sustainability, she has worked in Latin America and the United States with academic, philanthropic and civil society organizations, businesses, and multisector alliances.
Guayana earned a master’s degree in Environment and Sustainable Development from University College London, UCL, UK (2004) and a degree in sociology from the Andres Bello Catholic University, UCAB, Vzla (1999). A yogini and meditator, she developed and offers the AL Natural Mindful Practices Program combining her passion and long-time commitment to practicing yoga, meditation, and holistic health.
She has completed advanced training in these fields as well: she is a certified Advanced Yoga Teacher (RYT 500 hr.) by the International Yoga Alliance, a mindfulness mentor through the Banyan Sangha, and an integrative health coach through IIN. She cultivates a daily practice that includes asana, pranayama, meditation and energy work through several modalities. She is also a member of the Miami-based Sangha in the Buddhist Plum Village Tradition.
Passionate about personal transformation and social change, she is the founder of Athena Lab for Social Change, a social enterprise that serves leaders, organizations and companies in their transition towards more sustainable ways of Being and Doing, and changes in vision and practice in order to generate positive impacts for themselves, as well as positive social, environmental and economic impacts with their projects, businesses and investments. She is also co-founder of the Venezuela B Community, which promotes an impact economy supported by triple impact business in Venezuela and among the Venezuelan diaspora.
In her work, she combines her field experience with communities, collaborative research, design and management in institutional and multicultural contexts, as well as contemplative and embodied practices for expanded individual and collective awareness in support of transformation processes and systems change.
